Warren police say woman failed to follow traffic signal before hitting motorcyclist.
Warren resident Jeff Gutkin, 51, was taken to Somerset Medical Center after he was struck while riding a motorcycle on Mountain Boulevard, at Mt. Bethel Road, at 7:26 p.m. Tuesday. Police charged Kim Maloney, 46, Bridgewater, with failing to observe the westbound traffic signal after the vehicle she was driving hit Gutkin's motorcycle. Rescue squad volunteers responded to the accident and took Gutkin to Somerset Medical Center. Hospital officials have not responded to a request for information on Gutkin's condition. Attempted break-in reported over the weekend on Fox Hill Drive.
It may have been a holiday for many, but burglars took advantage of an empty house over the weekend to break in and steal an unspecified amount of jewelry, police said. The burglars gained entry to a Tall Oaks Drive residence through the front door sometime between Dec. 21 and Dec. 25. Police also received a report of an attempted burglary made Dec. 22 at a Fox Hill Drive residence. Both incidents are under investigation.

Accident occurred Saturday evening near 105 Washington Valley Road.
Warren Police are investigating an accident that occurred Saturday evening on Washington Valley Road. The accident occurred near 105 Washington Valley Road at about 6 p.m. An unconfirmed report indicated a bicyclist was involved with accident, but a Warren Police dispatcher could not confirm the information. Two vehicles were burglarized over the weekend outside a Glenview Drive residence, Warren Police said Monday. An iPod, GPS device and loose change were reported taken from the vehicles on Saturday, police said. The items had a total value of $680, police said. Warren police launch annual safety program Tuesday.
Drivers will want to double check their seat belts until June 5, while Warren police increase checks on drivers using seat belts as part of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety annual "Click it or ticket" program. "Using a seatbelt is the simplest way for a motorist and his or her passengers to protect themselves when on the road," Gary Poedubicky, acting director of the division, said. "Motor vehicle occupants who buckle-up increase their chances of surviving a crash by as much as 75 percent."
