From Gardening to Poe

Library sets April programs covering lots of interests.

The Warren Township Library has set a full serving of great programs for adults in April. Check out the list and register soon for the programs you want to attend. Library's January Programs Aimed at Helping Resolutions Take

Series of programs will help get you off to a good start.

The Warren Township Library can help you to jump start and keep your New Year’s Resolutions, with a series of programs related to popular New Year’s goals, such as health improvement, stress management and getting organized. The following programs, geared toward adults, require pre-registration.  Registration can be done online —click on "Adult Programs" under "Links of Interest," find the program on the calendar and double-click to register. Skeletons in Your Family Tree's Closet?

Library seminar reveals tools you can use to find out.

Cindy Helmers of Warren had taken a little break from researching her family tree, but Monday night's genealogy workshop at the Warren Library has inspired her. "It's getting the juices flowing," said Helmers. "There were resources that I didn't know I could get into." In a playful tribute to Halloween, the library's seminars were entitled "Discover the Skeletons in Your Closet: Genealogy Research" and included two parts. The first session focused on the New Jersey State Archives and its offerings online and in its Trenton. The second one covered what the Somerset County Library system can provide to researchers. Antiques Appraisal Can Separate Your Trash From Treasure

Antiques appraisal event to raise money for the Friends of the Library

Do you want to find out whether that clock passed down from your great-grandfather is really an expensive antique? Or maybe you have some memorabilia that you think could be valuable. Well, take a closer look at the items on your shelves and dig around your basements, then bring them to the Warren Township Library this Saturday. Expert appraiser, Alan Snyder, is donating his services for a special Antiques Appraisal from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to raise money for the Friends of the Library. Registration is required and can be done online or by calling 908-754-5554, ext. 64. A contribution of at least $5 per person is requested. Snyder, of A.G. Warren Librarians Turn TV Hosts on New Cable Show

The show, called "Check It Out" airs twice a day with a new topic each month.

The Warren Library's reference librarians are now "stars" of a new local television show, appropriately called "Check It Out." The 30-minute programs are taped and then aired on Cablevision Channel 15 and Verizon Cable Channel 44. A topic is featured each month and is shown twice a day at 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. For those who don't receive those stations, or who just want to "Check It Out" with others, the library is hosting a special viewing party from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 27. Everyone who works on the show volunteers their time, including the reference librarians Phyllis Chiavetta, Eloise Costello, Cathy DeBerry and Theresa Sanchez. Each month a different topic is featured and there are short, informational segments on how to use the library…
