Theft at Workplace Reported

Montville Police Say Somerset Man was Stealing Used Cooking Oil

Case sounds similar to incident in Warren.

Montville police charged Akim Brock with theft May 9, after he was caught tking used cooking oil from a local restaurant. Montville police said they believe Brock, a resident of Somerset County, was trying to sell the oil—he allegedly had more used cooking oil stored in a box truck he had with him that had a pump attached. Some of which may have been from a Warren business—which was reported stolen May 2. If the cases are connected, it could answer a lot of questions—except for one: who is buying the used oil?

Solving crimes often isn't an easy matter, even with today's high-tech crime fighting tools. Detectives are often left searching for an answer to the most fundamental question of a crime: what was the motive? Answer that, and you may have taken a big step towards identifying suspects.  For example, suppose someone stole a barrel filled with used cooking oil—as a Mountan Boulevard business reported someone did Wednesday at about 3 p.m. You might ask yourself, why?
