Watchung Hills Regional Holiday Concerts Continue

Chorale and instrumental performances to feature carols, classics.

In keeping with the festive season, Watchung Hills Regional High School’s music students will present Winter Concerts for the enjoyment of parents, friends and community members. Both events (instrumental and choral) will be held in the school’s Performing Arts Center, and are free and open to the public. The instrumentalists in various groupings, under the baton of David Udell, will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Brass in Black, conducted by Bonnie Burgdorf, will open the program with three traditional Christmas carols, “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing,” “We Three Kings,” and “Angels We have Heard on High.” The remainder of the program is under the direction of music instructor David Udell and includes carols old and new and seasonal music …

Watchung Hills High School Winter Instrumental Concert

Orchestra and bands entertain with seasonal and classical music.

The Watchung Hills Regional High School musical bands and orchestra entertained parents, relatives and friends with an assortment of Christmas, seasonal, classical and even a patriotic number at last night's Winter Instrumental Concert. Music included the Christmas music "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Deck the Hall," and "Angels We Have Heard on High" performed by the Brass in Black group, directed by Bonnie Burgdorf, and seasonal music "A Lullaby for Christmas," performed by the Concert Band, and "Jingle Bells" and "Sleigh Ride," performed by the Wind Ensemble. Five members of the String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble were selected to the 2012 Region II State Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Musicians selected were: Felix Kung and Albert Zeng (…

High School Groups Set Winter Concert Dates

Take your choice of outstanding vocal or instrumental performances this month.

In keeping with the festive season, Watchung Hills Regional High School’s music students will present Winter Concerts for the enjoyment of parents, friends and community members. Both events (instrumental and choral) will be held in the school’s Performing Arts Center, and are free and open to the public. The instrumentalists in various groupings, under the baton of David Udell, will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 14. The Concert Band will present “Brazilian Sleigh Bells” by Percy Faith, the “Overture for Winds” by Charles Carter, and Saint Saens’ “Marche Militaire Francaise”; the Orchestra will be heard in “Shepherd’s Dance” by Gian Carlo Menotti, and Gustav Holst’s “Brook Green Suite”; the Wind Ensemble will offer  Percy Grainger’s “Australian …
