Athos Martins Pushes Warriors to First Round Soccer Win

Advance in state tournament action.

The Watchung Hills Regional boys soccer team advanced in state tournament action, Monday, shutting out Phillipsburg 3-0. Propelled by an offensive drive that made 28 shots, compared to Phillipsburg's seven, Watchung Hills dominated the game. Athos Martins scored two goals, and Jaysen Bohrod added the third. Marques Notches 7 Saves in Warriors Victory

And Jaysen Bohrod adds four goals.

The Watchung Hills Regional Warriors boys soccer team notched its sixth win of the season Tuesday, beating Franklin 4-1. Playing at Franklin High School, the Warriors enjoyed strong plays on both offense and defense. Jaysen Bohrod made all four goals, with two assists each by Thomas Cagnetta and Gregory Ricci. Defensively, Warriors goalie John Marques made seven saves, limiting Franklin to just one goal.  The team will be in action again on Thursday, traveling to take on North Hunterdon. Cagnetta Keys Warriors' Win Over Montgomery

Watchung Hills boys soccer ranked 13th in latest statewide poll.

The Watchung Hills Regional boys soccer team is enjoying a good week: after being placed at no. 13 in the latest state rankings, the Warriors took on and defeated Montgomery, 5-2, Thursday. Thomas Cagnetta paced the Warrior's offense, scoring twice. Ben Lerner, Spencer Silverstein and Jaysen Bohrod each added a goal. The team will be back in action Sunday at 3:45 at Franklin High School.

Boys Soccer Regular Season Ends With Loss to Franklin

Warriors fall after early two-goal deficit on Senior Night.

The Watchung Hills Regional High School boys soccer team dropped their regular season finale to Franklin High School on Senior Night in Warren on Tuesday evening, losing 2-0.   In Short The Warriors yielded two early goals on Senior Night but were not able to rebound, losing the game 2-0.  With 24:25 remaining in the first half, Franklin jumped on top as senior goaltender Andrew Wong misjudged a short bouncing ball and by the time he came out to challenge, it was popped over his head for a goal.  Just three minutes later, Franklin doubled their lead, this time a throw in rattled around in the Watchung box and was headed to the far side of the goal, good enough for a 2-0 Franklin lead.  After falling behind in the first half, Watchung …

Second Half Goals Key Hillsborough Over Watchung

Warriors can't thwart timely Raiders, yield three total goals in second half.

The Watchung Hills Regional High School boys soccer team dropped a game to Hillsborough High School in Warren on Thursday afternoon, losing 3-1. In Short After a scoreless first half, the Warriors fell behind 1-0 on a rebound goal in their own box.  Midway through the second half, Greg Stone headed a ball home to knot the score at one apiece.  Hillsborough opportunistically responded twice with buried shots off the crossbar and post respectively down the final stretch to seal the 3-1 win.  The Warriors dropped to 2-7 on the season. Warriors Boy's Soccer Team Ready For Next Level

After a tough 2010 campaign, the boy's soccer team is ready to make big strides.

As the summer weather moves further and further away, that means fall sports are just getting started.  We’ll take a look at the fall squads, previewing each team and checking in on how they’re doing so far this year.  Today, we look at the Warriors boy’s soccer team. Overview The Warriors hope they can improve on a down season last year, and make some noise in the county.  Head Coach Greg Leonow has a strong backline and midfield and is hoping his offense can create a strong attack to take his club to another level.
