Olympian Jared Frayer Signs Singlet

Dr. Fred Rossi, team chiropractor for U.S. freestyle men's wrestling at the Olympics, files blogs from final matches.

The U.S.A. men's freestyle wrestling team arrived on the mat late in the London Olympic games, but Basking Ridge chiropractor Fred Rossi might conceivably say that some of the best had been saved for last — the wrestlers for whom Rossi was the official team chiropractor put on a good showing overall and will return home with two gold medals. USA's Jake Varner on Sunday defeated Valerie Andriitsev of Ukraine 1-0 and 1-0 to win gold in men's 96-kilogram freestyle, according to details on nbcolympics.com. A few days earlier, New Jersey's Jordan Burroughs had won gold in the 74 kilograms category, "handily" winning with an Iranian opponent in a rematch from last year's world championship gold medal match, according to Rossi's blog site in …

Magaldo Takes State Wrestling Title

Wins in bout against his toughest opponent this season.

During the Watchung Hills Regional wrestling team's regular season, sophomore Mike Magaldo beat almost every opponent he faced in the 120-lb. weight class, but three times he wrestled and three times he lost to Troy Heilman, of South Plainfield. It almost seemed inevitable the two would battle once again this year, as both advanced through their weight class bouts in Atlantic City, and sure enough, they did. But this time turned out differently, with Magaldo having Heilman's number. He won in a 5-1 decision to take the state title, Sunday. The win is a perfect cap to the team's, and Magaldo's, terrific season—Watchung Hills finished the season ranked 16 in the state, and had three wrestlers entered in the state tournament (132-lb. Matt …
