Soccer Association's Last Chance for Spring Signups

Teams are filling up fast, so be sure to register as soon as possible.

Registration for the spring Watchung Hills Soccer Association season opened in January, and organizers are reporting registration will close soon. The association, serving Warren, Green Brook and Long Hill townships and Watchung Borough, offers soccer programs for preschool-age kids through the eighth-grade. Parents can register their kids online and pay by Visa, MasterCard or personal check. Although the Feb. 27 deadline has passed, registrations are still accepted. Soccer League Readies for Spring Players

Watchung Hills Soccer Association opens registration for players as young as 3.

If your little one needs some extra time for running, sign up for this year's Watchung Hills Soccer Association, where kids as young as three years old can begin building their soccer skills. Registration for spring teams is undeway on the WHSA website. The league, open to kids from Warren, Watchung, Green Brook and Long Hill Township between three years of age and the fifth grade, will begin practices on April 13. Most practice and games are held at Warren Middle School.

Youth Soccer Teams Celebrate Season's Successes

Watchung Hills Soccer Association's Awards Day at Warren Middle School Saturday included awards for the group's younger players, and a little community service. The awards go to the association's kindergarten and younger players. A bake sale held to support the American Cancer Society at the Awards Day raised more than $300.

Soccer Association Launches Recreation Program Signups

Watchung Hills Soccer Association season set to begin April 14.

For the 800 or so players expected to participate in this year's Watchung Hills Soccer Association recreation spring season, there will be some extra opportunities for gaining new skills. The league for kids from preschool to the eighth-grade, which is currently holding online registration for the season, will include training led by United Soccer Academy coaches. The additional training fits with the WHSA's goals for young players. "The fundamental goals of the program include developing soccer skills, fostering proper attitudes toward competition and sportsmanship, learning the rules, teaching respect and the value of teamwork, and promoting self-confidence," Frank Sena, of the WHSA, said. Spring Season for TOPSoccer Program Set

Watchung Hills Soccer Association plans third season for program for special needs players.

Registration is underway for Watchung Hills Soccer Association's third season for The Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPSoccer), a program for children between 5 and 14 years of age with disabilities who would like to learn to play soccer and have fun. The program will be held at Warren Middle School on Saturdays, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., April 21 and 28; May 5, 12 and 19; and June 2. Registration can be done online at the WHSA website—click on “Blue Sombrero” to register (if you haven't created an account, do so first). Cost? $100.00 per season.
