Got Spring on Your Mind?

Maybe you're talking about March Madness—whatever it is, tell us the Talk of the Town.

Since launching the new Talk of the Town feature a few weeks ago, we've been enjoying the feedback from readers on what's going on. Each week, we ask readers and friends on the Warren Facebook page for the topics they're discussing with friends. Are you talking about your garden or your college basketball team? Maybe your spring break plans or Girl Scout cookies. Whatever is is, tell us about it in the comments box below—it might be the Talk of the Town.

TALK OF THE TOWN

Mysterious Boom Launched Talk of the Town

What are you talking to your friends and neighbors about this week?

We asked our friends on Warren Patch Facebook page and Warren Township Community Facebook page what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about this week, and until yesterday, hadn't seen much conversation going on. Then, there was a boom. Residents began posting about a loud boom around noon Tuesday, with people all across the township reporting hearing it. Some said they'd heard similar sounds before—and they were right. The source of the sound was blasting at the Weldon Materials quarry in Watchung, which certainly occurs from time to time. What about you? What are you talking to your friends and neighbors about? Tell us what the talk of the town is in the comments box below.

TALK OF THE TOWN

Storm Coming and Jr. Warriors are Talk of the Town

Plus, there will be some new treats in town this month.

We asked our friends on Facebook what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about, and learned about a change coming to Warren's Cold Stone Creamery Shop. But before we get into that, we know another topic that's sure to weighing on everyone's minds in the storm coming Wednesday night into Thursday, and it's threat of high winds and snow (and we all know what that can do...). Forecasts call for about three or four inches of snow in the area, but up here on Watchung Mountain, it's not uncommon for forecasters to underestimate the snowfall. School officials are telling residents there's a chance of delayed openings if the forecast is anywhere near correct. Unless it's a doozy, don't expect closures: no one wants to deal with the …

School Colors Are the Talk of the Town

There's a discussion underway on an alumni Facebook page.

We asked our friends on Warren Patch Facebook page and Warren Township Community Facebook page what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about this week, and found an interesting discussion underway on the Watchung Hills Regional alumni Facebook page about the school colors. Larry Pearce wrote about the page's talk of changing the school colors from brown and gold to black and white, and asks, "Why?" What do you think? Would Watchung Hills' athletes gain strength from the gain in contrast? Do you vote for (in the accompanying photo) Tommy Giamo's balck and white jersey, or Anthony Prus' brown and gold? Tell us what you think in the box below, or add what other topics have been on your mind this week.

To the current students at Watchung Hills: In the world of marketing it is about building awareness through familiarity of the brand. This in turn builds a relationship that insights persons to be proud of the brand and its history of high esteem/quality. The familiarity begins by exposing a consistent image which includes graphics and colors. Would Best Buy ever change their colors? Many people …   more ›

What's the Talk of the Town This Week?

We're asking what you're talking about for our new weekly feature.

Last week, we featured readers' comments on what they're talking to others about in a new feature we call "Talk of the Town." It's time for us to ask again what you're chatting about with your friends, co-workers and neighbors this week. Is it the Academy Awards? Maybe you've been discussing school budgets, the upcoming school plays—or a big chuckhole growing on Mt. Bethel Road...tell us what's on your mind for this week's Talk of the Town feature.

High School Graduation, Snow Removal Talk of the Town

We asked our Facebook friends what they're talking to their neighbors about this week.

We asked our friends on Warren Patch Facebook page and Warren Township Community Facebook page what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about this week, and found two big topics: Watchung Hills Regional graduation planning and snow removal by the township's Department of Public Works. This week, the school's board of education set graduation for 5 p.m. June 21 after several weeks of discussions with parents, staff members and students. Before casting their votes, each board member gave a brief statement of their feelings about the discussions, and while all but one voted in favor of the date, several said they liked some of other times. Here's what they had to say: As for the Department of Public Works—it's all blue sky and high…
