Warren Beautification Day, One of Final Farmers Markets Coming Up This Week

Watchung Hills HS students should register for Costa Rica trip by Tuesday if they want to participate.

Do you think Warren Township is a nice — and a pretty — place to live? Well, this Saturday, you have a chance to pitch in and help keep it that way.

The Township of Warren has announced that Warren Beautification Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday — and volunteers are needed.

Beautification Day will begin at the township's Public Works Garage, 1 Bardy Road. This annual event helps keep the Township of Warren beautiful. Clean-up efforts will include cleaning Warren Township parks, nature trails, the municipal grounds, and roadside litter removal. Supplies will be provided to all volunteers.

Everyone is welcome, and refreshments will be served. Those who want to join in should contact Doug Buro at 908-753-1223 to register or for further information.

Speaking of lovely settings, Wagner Farm Arboretum — located on a picturesque stretch of Mountain Avenue amidst gentle hills and a wide sky — will be holding its second to the last farmers market of the season this Thursday.

The Wagner Farm Arboretum Farmer's Market is held in season on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 197 Mountain Ave.

Vendors at the market offer organically grown, fresh seasonal produce, fresh brown eggs, naturally-raised beef, pork, poultry, naturally-grown produce, flowers, milk; gluten-free dishes, cheese, breads and pickles.

Local vendors participating include Mini Mac Farm, Windsong Farm, Paolo’s Kitchen, Gourmet Nuts & Dried Fruit, Baker’s Bounty, Breadsmith, and Unionville Vineyards. 

The final scheduled day for the farmers market this year is the following Thursday, Oct. 10.

Also this week, the Warren Township Recreation Committee is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday; and the Volunteer Fire Board of Chiefs is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. that night.

The Warren Township Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday at the municipal complex at 46 Mountain Blvd.

And for those students at Watchung Hills Regional High School who are interested in participating in a trip to Costa Rica, the deadline for registering is this Tuesday, Oct. 1.
